All you need to know
The Costa del Sol may seem lost in translation, you’ll likely hear about the major tourism; however, the Costa del Sol is home to many traditional Spanish villages and port side cities, one such costal town is Estepona.
Located only 20 minutes’ drive west of Marbella, Estepona has the distinction of being one of the largest coastal towns on Spain’s Costa del Sol and if firmly tied to its Spanish roots.
Estepona’s municipal boundaries stretch as far east as Guadalmina to the west of San Pedro and as far west as the Casares Playa/Manilva area.
You will soon discover once you pay a visit, and follow that coast line, that you get 21kms of gorgeous Mediterranean coastline. Best of all, along the way, you will find some of the best beaches of the coast.
What is more, in recent years the public investment has been huge. The town centre is almost unrecognisable with improved infrastructure, new stadiums and opening in early 2020 the new public hospital
In amongst all this beautiful coast line you will discover different residential areas, new developments and smaller towns that offer property buyers every kind of property imaginable. One of our favourite is the community of El Presidente.

El Presidente – Beachside Estepona
El Presidente is an urbanisation on the beach side of Estepona, and located at the heart of the New Golden Mile, near Puerto Banús, Marbella and right next to Benamara. As soon as you enter the community you will immediately notice the architecture, which is inspired by the Mediterranean Andalusian villages, offering 2- and 3-bedroom apartments in a peaceful setting.
The urbanisation of El Presidente is a highly regarded development which has stood the test of time, with its six swimming pools, one of which is heated, mature and tropical gardens, superb green lawns, and stunning waterfalls and fountains which remind you of the Alhambra Palace in Granada. In addition there are tennis courts and 24-hour security. It is one of the best locations currently on the coast to buy property and Marbella Homes have a large selection of properties for sale.
All around the development of El Presidente, you will find just about everything you need for the perfect holiday in the south of Spain. There is the Senator Banus Spa Hotel, Marriot Playa, and Salduba Beach club, which is a two-minute walk away. Also nearby are La Vela Azul chiringuito beach bar, and a pretty protected pinewood. All of these are excellent places to relax, sit and contemplate the sea, Gibraltar and even the African coast.
El Presidente is home to 2- and 3-bedroom apartments, equipped with hot and cold air conditioning, terraces marble floors and, and most notably all apartments benefit from large rooms which you can no longer find in the new developments. El Presidente enjoys a serene setting surrounded by all types of services at the El Pilar, Benavista, Mustang, Diana and Guadalmina shopping centres.
Estepona – Traditional Beauty
The actual town centre of Estepona itself is one of the most attractive and unspoiled on the Costa del Sol. It is still an authentic Spanish town.
Estepona Town Hall has taken great steps to ensure it maintains it’s traditional Spanish charm. Many of the narrow-cobbled streets have been turned into pedestrian only areas, all decorated with colourful and typical Andalucian flowers.
Estepona’s immaculately-kept beachside promenade runs the entire width of the town itself, and includes a bike path, various children’s play areas, outdoor gyms and water pools amongst its many outstanding features. This promenade (or Paseo Maritimo as it’s called in Spanish) is one of the true delights of Estepona and one of the social focal points of the town.
Estepona is also home to some of the best beachside restaurants found anywhere on the coast. Best of all, the towns famous for its seafood that uses ingredients freshly caught by the fishermen based in the town’s traditional fishing port at the western end of town.
In short, Estepona is without a doubt one of the nicest places in which to live on the Costa del Sol. It’s a very diverse area with its own unique, typically Spanish atmosphere, plus of course a great variety of different types of property for sale.
