June on the Costa del Sol means many things, especially the weather which is heating up right on time. Whether you are coming to Marbella, Costa del Sol to stay in your holiday home or living here full time, you know this time of month is perfect in every way. We’ve put together a great list of what you can expect in the month of June in sunny Spain.
San Juan
If you don’t already know, Spain loves a good feria and the month of June means the summer solstice Fiesta de San Juan. This particular festival is well known throughout the country and even abroad. Many Europeans will flock to Spain’s beaches to partake in one of the biggest festivals in the country.
One thing to know is San Juan in Spain means each region throughout the country will put their own spin on the celebration proceedings. Coming to the South of Spain or the Costa del Sol means you’re in luck, because Málaga, Fuengirola and Marbella are where the largest celebrations are held. The beach bonfires are lit and the celebrations go on all night until dawn. Don’t miss it if you think you can stay up all night. Celebrations are held on 23rd June.
Golf
With the huge range of fantastic golf courses available you are really spoilt for choice if you fancy playing a round or two on one of the Championship courses, enjoy them for it gets too hot. To encourage more women into the sport, Women’s Golf Day is back on Tuesday 4th June for its 2019 edition, at the exclusive Finca Cortesin Golf Club in Casares. The next Challenge Tour event on the golfing calendar is the Andalucía Costa del Sol Match Play 9 at Valle Romano Golf in Estepona Thursday 20th until Sunday 23rd June. Last but absolutely not least, the Andalucía Valderrama Masters takes place in Sotogrande from Wednesday 26th until Sunday 30th June.
Fairs & Ferias
Spain loves a good fair or feria and there are most popular in the summer months.
Marbella Fair is being held from Wednesday 5th until Tuesday 11th June. This is definitely one to visit if you are in the area as it’s a great event for all ages with music performances, stalls selling local products, flamenco, shows and events for children and of course those obligatory fireworks. Renowned as one of the most colourful fairs in all of Andalucía, the Feria de Marbella is definitely not to missed and whilst you are there wandering the decorated streets of the Old Town is the perfect antidote to ease away stresses and strains.
